Happy New Year friend! Hope you had an incredible Christmas and a nice time near a beach or splashing in water somewhere pretty!
We are almost 9 days into 2015 and I have had such a fabulous Summer getaway.
This Summer. W.O.W!
I distinctly recall the dreary and uninspiring beginning to December. I wondered (often out loud) whether we were even going to get a decent summer this year and yet now, less than a month later, I can hardly believe there was any doubt. I’ve even gotten sunburnt. Naughty me! Especially because I have to wear a strapless dress in about 15 days time and I have tan lines on my back. Spray tan?!!
Every morning during our Waiheke holiday, the hubs had me out on brisk walks with the pram and a big old hill included. I love him for his gentle pushing – Lord knows I need it! And since being home, those endorphins are doing their own darn thing, I seem to have caught the bug and every evening once the babes are in bed, I have been scaling the mountain behind my home and running, yes, running the rest of the way. I probably am being naughty since I need to focus on my diastasis recti exercises to properly knit my abdomen back together before pushing the fat burning, but I have a dress to look decent in and laying on my back doing transverse abdominal clenches is not going to assist in the appearances department. I am working on my ab exercises at the same time don’t worry.
The view from the top of these ridiculous inclines makes that burning sensation I get in my throat, the aching calf muscles and the threatening urge to vomit worth it. I only thought I was going to puke as I’d eaten too much dinner right before I set off on my first night and I only had intended to walk, not run. Whoops!
I am the kind of person that needs conditions to be perfect before I do something involving exercise – you know: right clothing (thanks to The Warehouse, I have some pretty sweet workout gear so that’s not holding me back), comfortable shoes – tick, a playlist perfectly compiled for optimum enjoyment whilst working out – tick, a hat so my hair isn’t in my eyes – tick, iPhone arm band etc etc. Basically, I sometimes make it real easy to not go! Since I got my iPhone 6 I don’t have an armband, and it’s definitely not ideal running with my phone tucked into my shorts, but I’m making do. I have to! 10 days till I fly out remember!!!
I don’t set resolutions for New Years, it’s never been my thing, but I am loving this little burst of enthusiasm I have for my exercise right now. Long may it continue.
Have you been invigorated by this sunshine and out there getting fit too?
I know it’s naff stopping to take photos, but I was catching my breath after each major hill climb so figured I’d kill two birds with one stone!
