I’ve had a good week. How about you? My little guy is moving like a rattlesnake now and swift in every movement. After a tumble on the weekend at mini-golf resulting in a huge scrape on his nose, I am having to keep up with him like never before. He’s my climber, my into-everything, my ‘let-me-do-it-too’ kid. Oh geez….
The weather this week has been alternately awesome and awful this week, but I’ll take the good with the bad.
This weeks’ round ups of goodies are all things that I could not have lived without and let me tell you why:
1. I ran out of my Original Batiste dry shampoo a few weeks ago and have been using (shall I actually confess this out loud?) Johnson’s Baby Powder (that I’ve had sitting in the cupboard for several years since I never use it on the kids!) which does the trick at a pinch and is a damn sight cheaper than dry-shampoo specific products. Thing is though that you smell like a baby’s bum. My husband was a little weirded out by that! haha. I found this new XXL Volume version the other day and couldn’t resist buying it. It is amazing. It claims to be ‘the instant back comb in a bottle’ and it really does have huge lift and hold – forget about a natural looking clean look with this product. It’s great for volume though and keeps me going a couple days longer which is always a plus in my books! I hate washing my hair!
2. My morning routine probably goes a little like yours: readying kids in the morning for school or kindy, making lunches, shovelling food into little mouths, trying to consume something yourself, brushing teeth, washing faces, bundling little bodies into coats and hats and getting everyone out the door with frantic cries of “hurry up, we’re late” spilling out of your mouth every few moments. Every day the same! When I return though after the drop off, the pace is so much slower and my little guy and I get busy with our Karcher Window Vac to get that pesky condensation off the windows. We make our way through each room at our leisure. He loves turning it on and the sound it makes and I love the results. It’s so quick, so effortless and so nice having confidence that the dampness is being minimised in our rooms. I ummmed and ahhhhed for a while last year about buying one of these and am so very glad I did. They’ve come down in price now and if you can spare the $100 odd it costs, I would absolutely get one. I was so over using old towels and adding to my washing pile! Can not recommend this gadget enough! Also makes window cleaning a breeze!
3. I like a smoothie every morning for my breakfast to start my day off right. I also make one for my littlest and my hubby has now started making his own each morning in an attempt to cut back on cereal with milk which plays havoc with his sinuses. I use a stainless steel straw but now that he’s having smoothies too and using mine, it was time to get some more. I can’t tell you how horrible I feel about throwing plastic straws out daily after only one use so these straws are a perfect way to take care of the environment better and they’re so much nicer for drinking out of. The kids don’t use them because when one did, he shoved it into the roof of his mouth which was not so much fun, so for a while longer we’ll have to keep buying plastic. These are great for us adults though. You need the little brush to ensure you get any remnants of LSA or banana or berry or anything out from inside. If you’re a regular smoothie drinker and don’t use stainless straws yet, I highly suggest you get on this bandwagon.
4. If you’ve followed me a while, you may know that I am a huge music lover. I semi-seriously pursued a career as a singer when living in LA a few years back and get a huge amount of pleasure from singing with my kids and dancing round like idiots in the living room or kitchen whenever we can. Sometimes I love to slow it down though and really just croon. haha. This new song by James Bay has totally captured my attention. It’s incredibly melancholic but I love it all the same. Have you heard this yet? Turn your speakers up and enjoy on this Friday morning.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend planned. We don’t have many things on the list for this weekend which makes a nice change. I think I’m going to binge watch as much of Nashville Season 2 as I can. I seem to have so many shows on the go at the moment and not enough time to keep up! Stay warm and cosy wherever you are. See you next week. x
