How on earth is it June already?? Like, really? HOW?
It kind of feels like Christmas just happened and seemingly we are now only 203 days away from the next one!
This week has been another stuck mostly indoors thanks to this hideous weather and sick kiddos. But that’s OK, I love folding piles of washing and running the dryer non-stop!
Really though, here are four things I have been loving this week:
1. Mandarins! Citrus in all shapes and sizes to be honest, but mandarins are my favourites. Easy to peel, no messy juice all over my hands, small enough to eat on the run. Sweetness. Perfection in a peel really! I’ve also been juicing lemons and mixing with 12+UMF honey to kill the scratch in my throat, and slicing oranges into wedges like nobody’s business because the kids love to eat them that way. Citrus all round I say!
2. Staying on the citrus theme, I am love love loving this Blood Orange Freeze Dried Powder from FreshAs! It’s only made it’s way into morning smoothies so far, but I’m planning big things for a dessert this weekend. I’m just trying to come up with the perfect combo – Blood Orange + Vanilla / Blood Orange + White Chocolate / Blood Orange + Dark Chocolate? Care to weigh in!??
3. A couple of weeks ago on Pinterest I found some great looking hooks but alas, there were none available like it in NZ and I didn’t want to pay up to $80 for pegs on a wall which will eventually probably go with our renovation/extension. I asked my faithful Facebook followers for suggestions and got so many great ideas (thank you!) I settled on this perfect natural wooden style peg from LetLiv for my entrance. It was a bit of a mission getting them into the wall since we didn’t have a stud in the exact place I wanted them to go and my husband + gib hooks have never been the best of friends (!), but eventually after some huffing and puffing… we got there! I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be able to hang my handbag, to no longer have to worry about my smallest human eating my lipsticks and removing every single card and receipt from my wallet at least 5 times a day! Plus I love hanging my jacket and scarf and Beau’s vest and hat there for easy exits and arrivals for what feels like numerous innings and outings on any given day. These were so affordable and they look fabulous!
4. We did Secret Santa with my family last year and one of the things I chose left around $50 in the pot so my thoughtful SS (who actually turned out to be my gorgeous sister in law) bought me these little Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules from The Body Shop as a wee extra. I have been using so many different skin care products over the past six months with all the new ranges I get sent (I’m not at all complaining!), but I completely forgot these little guys were in my cabinet until last week. I have a spot of skin on my chin that’s been a little red and scaly lately and I decided to give it a good dose of Vitamin C each night before bed, and you know what, it’s coming right! These little beauties aim to smooth and revive skins appearance and are specially formulated for dull skin. I highly recommend them!
I can’t wait to show you what I come up with on the dessert front! Hope you have a great weekend and let’s hope this rain abates a little so we can get out and enjoy it.
