The week that was. It’s gone so fast hasn’t it!? Again!
My round up is a little different this week. Not because there aren’t cool things to show you or share with you but because I am making my favourites this week all about what I’m grateful for. And when I lay in bed last night thinking about what my favourite things from this week have been, they really are these four things.
Let me tell you about my Favourites on Fridays for August 14, 2015:
My health. I’m a pretty lazy creature by nature. I was the kid growing up who used to moan the entire way on our family walks that Dad would instigate pretty much every Sunday afternoon. I mean UGH! Really? Do we have to!? I remember when I was 18 my family and I sailed across to Great Barrier Island on my Aunt & Uncle’s boat. I didn’t enjoy the journey over, which is fine, but the worst part about it, and the part that I’m so embarrased now about is that when we got there, I refused to get off the boat. I stayed put listening to my brand new Boyz II Men tape while the rest of the family adventured across the island. Anyway… I’m lazy. I like to do the least amount of work and hope for the best results. Which is why I’m grateful that my body still works! I’ve been to the gym 3 x this week. Monday I did a Body Step Class, Wednesday Body Pump and this morning my first RPM class in approximately 8 years! And though it hurt! (not surprisingly!) Though I sweat my ass off and though I struggled to catch my breath at times, I survived. My heart pounded, my muscles worked and I am looking forward to the next time. I need to treat my body with more respect in the fitness sense I think. I’m so glad it’s looking after me!
With the news full this week of non stop talk about the Auckland Housing crises and hearing about the absolutely insane prices of sales of homes in our area recently, I really am so very grateful to have a home we love and that we were able to buy before the whole market went truly beserk! I know it’s not an attainable goal for so many people anymore (my siblings included) and even though I would love to change a few major things about our home – and we plan to with a renovation at some point – to have a roof over our heads and a warm, dry place to raise our children is really something worth noting and being grateful for.
I have two jobs. Well I guess actually most mothers have a huge number of hats they’re juggling, but my two main jobs are being a stay at home Mama and running my blog. I don’t so much enjoy all the housework related parts of my being at home job, but I’m grateful that I can be at home for my kids. I know not everyone has that ‘luxury’. I say luxury very loosely because it’s not glamorous by any stretch of the imagination, but I hope you know what I mean by that. Some women choose to return to the workforce which is great, but some return because of financial necessity and I count myself blessed that we are able to have one parent at home with our kids while they’re young. It has it’s moments of course, but there is really nowhere else I’d rather be each day. And my blog, well it’s because you are here reading that I am able to call this a job. I love what I do. I love to write. I love engaging with you on lots of levels and I’m loving seeing what keeps you coming back. Thank you for the love! The products I get to try out and the people I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with are all wonderful perks of the job and I’m loving the ride that The Bubbalino Kitchen is taking me on.
And lastly but absolutely not least-ly, this week I’m extra thankful for my hot husband. For all of the above actually. He works so hard for us and I love him for it. He’s provided us with a wonderful life and because he works so hard, I am able to stay home, I am able to focus on my blog and I am able to afford to go to the gym to get this lazy body back into shape.
I am supposed to head out tonight to the city for a function, but this rain is making me just wanna snuggle up indoors and watch The Voice. We have a birthday party tomorrow and a Barn Dance tomorrow night which is a local fundraising event complete with square dancing band. Can’t wait! (I might have just been back to SaveMart to find a suitable checkered shirt that I completely overlooked yesterday in my shopping frenzy! I might have also gotten a few other things!? arrrrgggghhhhhh.)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned too and I have lots of great stuff to share with you next week.
Until then, stay dry x
