Ahhhh the sun is out and so are my four loads of washing. Gotta make the most of this weather right? Tomorrow it could (and probably will) be all over!
I’ve had a great week – most of it low key, but I’ve loved every moment of it and there’s a few reasons why. I’ve just finished up my second week at the gym and where I started intending to participate in group fitness classes, I had a private training session yesterday and got my body fully measured and my own program written up to tackle my problem areas, and I think I’m going to stick to this form of working out as it feels so much more rewarding. One bad thing though – turns out my scales at home are 3 kilos out (too light – waaaaah) meaning that I actually have more weight to shift than initially thought! I have signed up for a 6 week membership first off just to get into the swing of things and to not ‘over-commit’, but the trainer thinks I can lose the initial 6kgs in that time!? I’m not so sure, but I do like knowing that my goals are attainable relatively quickly.
Let me share with you my Favourites on Fridays for August 21st:
Although I love my iPhone and arm band for running, mostly because I love using the Nike Run app to track my pace (back when I used to run!), I find the size of the phone too much for a workout and so have dug out my very old school iPod shuffle that I have not used in years. This little tiny thing is just perfect for keeping me company as I work my way around the gym pumping iron and pounding the treadmill. I’m looking to put together a kick-ass playlist – what are you top work out songs??
I always struggle to drink enough water in the Winter months, even with a drink bottle nearby, but going to the gym first thing in the morning I love that I have already consumed my full CamelBak bottle by 7am. These bottles are truly the best. I have had mine for almost two years. I’ve replaced the valve just once and it is still going so strong. It’s light enough to throw in my hand bag and fits in my car cup holder. In fact our entire family has their own bottle, we love them!
If you know me, you’ll know that although I’ve joined the gym and I’m trying to shift a few kg’s, I am certainly not going clean. And when I saw this Lindt Coconut Intense chocolate on special at Countdown the other day, I just had to grab it. That’s one bad thing about actually visiting the supermarket in person (usually I just online shop), you walk up and down the aisles and get sucked into making purchases you wouldn’t normally! 🙁 But I love coconut anything and mixed with dark chocolate – it was a ‘must try’. It did not disappoint. Deeeeee-licious. Have you tried it?
Since finishing watching Nashville, I am having serious withdrawals. I’ve even contemplated watching it again but then decided that would be plain silly. Instead I downloaded a bunch of the songs from the show off iTunes and have been playing them on heavy rotation. A lot of them are slow and I love that, but this gutsy number I have discovered is perfect for the treadmill. I cranked it super loud this morning, pumped the pace up to 9.5 and went for it. I also love blasting it while I make dinner. This girl can really really sing! And I love her bitchy character on the show.
We have a pretty calm weekend planned which is just fine by me. We’re having lunch with friends on Sunday and my Dad is coming for dinner tomorrow night but aside from that, nada. I’m thinking maybe a movie date with the kids if we can find someone to watch the babe. What are you up to? And please don’t forget to hit me with your favourite work out songs for my playlist.
