SINCE STARTING THE BUBBALINO KITCHEN, I HAVE DISCOVERED A WHOLE ONLINE WORLD OF BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE PUTTING TOGETHER GORGEOUS, INSPIRING, ENTERTAINING AND JUST PLAIN AWESOME CONTENT. SOME OF THEM YOU MAY HAVE ENCOUNTERED ALREADY, OTHERS YOU MAY NEVER HAVE HEARD OF. I HOPE BY BRINGING YOU THIS SERIES I’M CALLING GETTING FRANK WITH FOODIES, I MIGHT INTRODUCE YOU TO SOME PRETTY WONDERFUL KIWIS BOTH HERE AND ABROAD. EACH WEDNESDAY I WILL BRING YOU SOMEONE I ADMIRE AND RESPECT AND SHARE WITH YOU THEIR ANSWERS TO MY FIVE FOODIE QUESTIONS. I HOPE YOU ENJOY.
This young lady has so much to be proud of. At just 21 she has established a successful business serving delicious and nutritious sugar-free breakfast bowls to the people of Auckland. Most 21 year olds aren’t even up at breakfast time so let’s just recognise straight off how amazing this is! Sarah is passionate about her sugar-free journey and in the short time I’ve been following her on Instagram, I’m inspired by her already.
Get cozy and read more about how she got her start and what she’s looking forward to in her very bright future as she answers my Five Foodie questions.
What is your earliest food memory? How has this defined your relationship with/ethos around food?
Young!! My first memory where I began to discover my passion for food was planning and creating a weekly meal for my family at the age of 10!! My parents gave my sister and I one day a week which we were responsible to each plan and prepare dinner. I remember spending the whole afternoon reading through (very basic!) cookbooks and getting excited about all things food. This sparked my love to experiment and become more skilful in the kitchen.
Tell me about your proudest food moment.
Standing behind The Vital Bowl’s stall on my first ever day at the markets. I knew how much planning, hard work and passion had gone into it and I felt proud. I am proud of the products I sell and the message I stand for which is everything to me. I have to remind myself that I’m only 21 and take a minute to be satisfied with what I have achieved so far!
What is your biggest food dream? (What is your loftiest goal? What do you hope to achieve in your food journey?)
I would love to see The Vital Bowl grow into a wide range of sugar-free products available at outlets in New Zealand and worldwide….currently working on this!!
Your most favourite ingredient and why?
Coconut for sure! I am nuts about coconut, it’s so diverse, satisfying and delicious but also nutrient dense. It provides just the perfect amount of natural sweetness in everything whether it’s sweet or savoury.
If you could create the perfect scene including your dream person, in a dream location indulging in a dream meal – what would that look like? Person, place and meal?
Jamie Oliver- Coromandel beach front- and I would make him a Crispy Coco-Nut Muesli Bowl topped with homemade yoghurt with fresh summer berries, DREAM!

I hope you’re enjoying this series as much as I am. I can’t wait to bring you another wonderful foodie next week. If there are any particular Kiwi bloggers or foodies you would like me to ask my five questions of, don’t hesitate to make a suggestion.
Until our next episode of Getting Frank with Foodies…. adios x
