I’m relieved to not be hosting Christmas Day this year at my home, but I held our end of year Cuisine Club celebration in November and themed it Christmas. I kept it simple and thought you may like some inspiration of easy and cheap ways to decorate your table in case you are tasked with hosting this year.
I laid the table with a big white tablecloth, which was incidentally a Christmas gift from my Mama several years ago. I love a blank canvas to begin. I treated myself to couple of beautiful bunches of flowers from Farro Fresh, including rich red roses, and the main decorative features of my tablescape were sorted. I used the jumbo Ferrero Rocher as a centrepiece, along with a gorgeous little ceramic house I picked up from Citta a few years ago. And to complete the look of soft light and ambience, since I was hosting in the evening, and to add the scent of fresh pine needles (since we didn’t yet have our tree up), I lit my favourite Pine Needles candle by Ecoya.
I printed out little menus on my Brother Printer for each place setting and adorned them with a small truffle in foil wrapping that came from the supermarket to add a touch of colour.
I served dishes prepared from the latest Taste and Dish magazines and every mouthful was delightful. We each bring a $10 foodie gift and exchange, Secret Santa style on the evening. As always it was a beautiful night with lovely women and great food.
I hope you have a stress-free Christmas and enjoy the things that truly matter this holiday season – love, family and quality time together. Let’s hope we get some good beach weather too.
