Magic hands… that’s what I’d call them.
If money were no object, there are two things I would splurge on – actually three.
- A Cleaner
- Monthly facials
- Fresh flowers every week
But until then, I’m going to save my pennies to return again and again to Ashleigh Scott for facials like the one I enjoyed last week.
From the moment I stepped foot into her stunning premises on the ground level of City Works Depot, I felt relaxed. The decor is a delicious mix of strong and soft. Exposed concrete combined with fluffy sheepskin, blonde wood
with charcoal furnishings. Sleek but homely, stylish yet comfortable. Greenery and flowers complete the surroundings. To add to the charm I immediately feel, I suddenly spy the most adorable little Cavoodle you have ever seen and next thing I know I’m falling in love with Waffle – in house charmer, captain of the ship. What a cutie!
Add in the gorgeous, incredibly sweet, effervescent and super talented face of the business, Ashleigh Scott herself, and this is the place I am more than happy to spend the next hour or so of my day. I’m handed a form to fill in which asks more about my current skincare regime and any areas of concern and poured a glass of water. I follow Kate to one of three private treatment rooms and am instantly drawn to this stunning floral art piece on the wall. I undress, hang my clothes on a pretty padded hanger and lay down on the bed, my head sinking deeply into plush white pillows, my body sinking deeper under heavy white blankets that instantly cocoon my body. Within seconds I am a thousand percent relaxed and ready for the next hour of pampering.
Kate returns and talks me through my skin, any concerns I have and my current regime. There’s no waterfall music here, but rather a tastefully curated playlist of instrumentals featuring piano or saxophone and more. The treatment begins with a double cleanse using a combination of Ashleigh’s own Tribeca Skin Tonics skincare range and moves through applications of product from both Tribeca and an Australian range called Janesce.
This is a facial like no other. Ashleigh’s signature facial style includes a couple of techniques known as Lifting and Soaking. Bottom line is – they are amazing! Because the emphasis of Ashleigh’s style is that your skins state is a direct reflection of the inner happenings in your body. She believes by working at a cellular level that cell respiration and detoxification can increase, stimulating blood flow and lymph drainage, whilst improving superficial clarity and radiance. Essentially Ashleigh Scott combines results with relaxation for a holistically nurturing experience that will transform your skin story.
Every other facial I have ever experienced has spent the hour racing through application of various lotions and potions, cleansers, masques, exfoliants, serums and moisturisers. Because the Ashleigh Scott facial is lighter on products because the key is to keep the skin story simple, there is a beautiful chunk of time reserved for the most incredible facial, shoulder, upper back and head massage you’ve ever encountered. My ears were massaged for goodness sakes. My cheek bones got a working over and I felt like I’d had a back massage as well once we were done. My skin was luminous, my head clear and my body so relaxed. Blissful was I.
After coming to, and dressing, I returned very reluctantly to the reception area and was treated to a cup of Storm & India Morning Detox Tea, and two Brazil nuts. I got to pat that adorable little Waffle again, though mores the pity I couldn’t sneak him into my handbag.
This is a service I would highly recommend. I will be keeping an Ashleigh Scott facial experience in mind as a treat for my beloved females too – what an amazing gift! They offer specials and gift vouchers so it’s a perfect idea for gifting. My skin was glowing and my hair was greasy too from that amazing head massage – you can opt out of the greasy hair, but trust me… you want it. It’s magic too!
I’ve introduced the Tribeca Tonics skincare products into my nightly cleansing routine, in conjunction with traditional ‘soaking’ that Kate taught me all about. I’ll be bringing you my feedback on these beautiful products in a few weeks too, so if you love natural NZ made products, then stay tuned.
* I received this incredible treatment in exchange for editorial consideration. But as always, all opinions are my own.
