I’ve been loving Skechers for a while now, but wanted to introduce my family to the awesome options for their feet too. We headed into our local store last weekend and each selected a pair of shoes to take us through the Winter. (I may have left with 2 pair!)
A family shopping escapade could be disastrous, and there were a couple of hairy moments where the 2 year old ran from the store and then spat his raisins on the store mirror (ahem!), but nothing that couldn’t be fixed by the patient and amazing staff in the St Lukes store. The footwear options for kids were abundant and it took a while to narrow down the selection for Master 2 and Miss 7, who might have wished she had 8 legs just to accommodate all the shoes that she was showing her heart eyes to! She was quite specific about wanting some with Memory Foam after seeing it being listed as a feature on most of the adult women’s shoes as she looked around, and finally settled on this gorgeous pair of Glimmerama Silver & Aqua beauties. Mama approved, after all, these are my favourite colours too. They sparkle like crazy in artificial or evening light and she left one very happy little lady!
When it came to which shoes Master 5 wanted, he did not waver once from his chosen pair, despite my ‘encouragement’ to go for a pair a little less OTT and a little more functional. Alas, I could not sway him. He was single-minded, he was dedicated to the cause and his insistence paid off. Every day since last Sunday he has asked to wear his shoes and I know that if I had’ve forced him to choose the pair that I liked best (the more practical lace-up runner), there would have been zero passion from him to his shoe and he would have been less enthusiastic about wearing them. Instead he has taken these shoes to school for show and tell and puts them on every day when he gets home. It’s true love. And if you were a 5 year old boy, you might well understand why. I mean look at these! I’m not sure he’ll actually ever need the Mega Blade magic for rock climbing or springing from tall buildings, but I pretty much made his dreams come true in saying Yes to this pair of shoes!
The little one wanted Light Up Shoes – no surprises there! There were lots of chunkier styles like some he’s had before, but I loved this sleeker design of the Erupters in Lava Arc for him – they’ll go with pretty much everything in his wardrobe whilst still fulfilling his desire to stamp his little feet all around town and create sparkles galore.
Once we had the kids selections sorted, they were fairly much entranced by the behind-counter screen advertising all upcoming shoe releases. There’s interactive footwear coming in every colour you can imagine. This clever marketing strategy (however intentional) gave my husband and I approximately ten minutes to find the shoes of our dreams. Plenty of time right!?
Shane settled rather quickly on this perfect pair of Mark Nason boots in sleek black leather with tan detail and white soles. He has a bunch of sports shoes already since he’s a bit of an athlete, so although there were many pairs of men’s running shoes, walking shoes and everything in between available in store, he was in the market for a shoe he could wear to work. They fit him like a glove and looked great. Tick!
If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen the shoes I selected. I was intending to get white shoes since I have pink, more pink and black sneakers already, but when I laid eyes on these Go Fit TR shoes in this incredibly bright, floral, stunning pattern, I just could not go past them. I tried on a bunch of white shoes just to be sure they truly were my pick, my only hesitation being that many of my work-out bottoms are patterned or coloured and I thought these might clash. Turns out I’ve worn them all last week with jeans every single day and not to walk in once. It seems when you love something, you’ll make it work whatever it takes! Such is the case with me and this beautiful shoe!
But because I really did neeeeed a white pair more than I needed a pretty pair, I got both. The white are fresh as anything and I feel a little like Kanye when I wear them because they’re so bright and brand new (apparently he only wears each pair of fresh sneakers once before discarding – a little revolting huh!?). Rest assured, I will not be discarding my shoes after a couple of wears. The gel-infused memory foam innersole makes them pretty much the most comfortable sneaker I’ve ever worn.
Long story short – if you are looking for footwear for your entire family, head to one of the Skechers stores near you (and those of you not living in Auckland – keep an eye out for stores opening near you this year!!!) or find a stockist via the website to get your very own Skechers shoes to outfit your family like me.
