This Winter is my first foray into life as a sideline supporter at sports grounds around Auckland. Saturday morning sees me juggling Soccer and Rugby League fields around the city. I am not really a morning person so given the choice, I’d be in my PJ’s until noon. Even so, I’m not the kind of person who would actually turn up to the game in my PJ’s and I also don’t want to roll out of bed into trackies and gummies, but my finer threads don’t cut it for the sidelines.
Often following the morning run around on the sports paddock we head to brunch, visit with family, run errands, or I ditch the fam and go meet up with a girlfriend (OK, this reality is not the usual one, boo), but we don’t always skip straight home, so my attire needs to be suitable for wherever we are heading next.
Using the vast array of options in the Womenswear section at Farmers, I have taken their #makeyourlook campaign and put my own spin on it to bring you three totally acceptable outfits that Mama’s like me could rock up to the sports-field in to be comfortable, chic, but appropriate, as well as ensembles I am perfectly able to progress to a café for brunch or out to a casual coffee catch up with a girlfriend wearing.
Here are my Stylish Mama Side-line Looks for Winter
RUN ME SOME ERRANDS
I’ve paired a simple pair of ankle grazing jeans with this cute water-proof parka. Stripes are my jam and this fresh colour option gives brightness to what could be a dull and drizzly morning on the sidelines. A soft blush coloured blouse underneath allows a more feminine side to show through and gives the option of removing the jacket if the sun comes out or the need arises on a post-game errand running mission. You could wear gumboots to the field and have pretty shoes waiting in the boot for a quick change of style – that’s my favourite trick!
TAKE ME TO BRUNCH
These leggings are so luxe. They are high waisted (winning situation for a mum-tum) and are made of super soft fabric that helps you feel like you’re wearing a pair of trackies, as opposed to suck-me-in ponte pants. The oversized animal print top is also very soft and comfortable and the total on trend long vestigan (can I make that a word!?) is cozy and really balances out the outfit. Obviously not for your rainy day outing, but perfect for a finer Winter’s day game.
LUNCH WITH THE GIRLS
I am all about the coat this season. I’m loving the big oversized collars and tie waists and I love the bold colour-way of this Kimono style coat. Paired with this gorgeous olive-green leather look skirt and ankle boots, I would happily wear this to morning sport and then on to lunch with girlfriends. I paired this with a simple black scoop neck long sleeved tee underneath but a merino sweater for cooler mornings would be perfect.
Which look is your favourite?
