For as long as I can remember, I have wanted gas in my kitchen. And for as long as I can remember, I’ve never had it. So when we install our brand new kitchen in the next few months, I will finally be able to enjoy my dream stove and the joy of cooking over gas.
I’ve selected a Fisher & Paykel 90cm Gas on Steel Cooktop for its seamless integration into the benchtop and the sleek stainless steel is totally going to work with my light and bright kitchen colour scheme. And since we have decided to switch to gas from electric for our cooking purposes, it made sense to explore the idea of using gas to heat our water also since we have to relocate our hot water cylinder in the renovation anyway. We are installing a slimline Rinnai infinity heater and combining it with gas as our heating source. Endless hot water with three growing children and a husband who trains twice a week. Can.Not.Wait! I’m after an end result as pretty as this.
I must actually be a real live adult to be so excited about something like this right? It is these little things that actually count right? Right!?
Making the decision to move to gas has been a significant one though because although it’s something I desperately wanted for my kitchen’s sake, we aren’t on mains here. And that has made the potential decision always seem a bit in the ‘too hard basket’ to explore. It became simply another thing to add to my list of “need to figure this out’s” which is growing by the day as our project rolls on.
I have made the decision to going with Genesis Energy as our provider – mostly because it was so damn easy to figure out how it all works thanks to their four LPG value plans – all-inclusive fixed rate annual plans with no upfront costs, starting from just $33 a month! See, easy! Turns out, thanks to their handy little online test, that my family needs the LPG Plus Plan, with a flat rate of $99 per month.
Plus, if I also wanted to switch my electricity to Genesis Energy right now, I would get up to $250 of the first month’s electricity for free!
There’s an app that makes ordering top-up bottles on my phone easy, and there are no upfront costs to change from an existing provider (if that applies to you). Bottles are switched over to two full LPG bottles and you’re away laughing.
I’m hoping to be in my new kitchen with free flowing hot water and beautiful gas hobs just in time for Christmas, but if you’re interested in making the switch, you can do so here and now or you can find out all you need to know about LPG here.
* This post has been sponsored by Genesis Energy and a huge thanks for the amazing gift of an LPG Value Plan.
