Where possible I choose to use natural plant-based, chemical free products on my children’s skin and hair. When I say ‘where possible’ I also mean ‘when affordable’ because while I choose to place importance on this for the sake of their health and wellbeing, it still must be something I can do without breaking the bank.
Time was when natural skincare products were just a bit out of reach for the average Kiwi family, but thanks to consciousness of the general public and their demand matched by brands wanting to meet this gap in the market, though still slightly more expensive, the price gap between products using natural ingredients and not now is not so great meaning that I’m happy to stretch a little further to afford it.
Since she was a baby, I’ve only ever used one brand of hair care on my big girl. But her hair is growing and it’s luscious and sometimes I am so tempted to use my more expensive (but not always natural) products on her locks as a bit of a ‘treat’ and to give it extra nourishment.
Earthwise have added a new range of hair care to their Nourish range that I’ve been using on Tahlia’s hair and it’s so lovely. We’ve been using the Nourish Balance range which is for normal hair, but there is also Protect for coloured hair and Revitalise for damaged hair.
The Balance shampoo has been lovingly crafted in New Zealand with essential oils and natural botanicals. It gently cleanses without stripping the precious protective oils of my babies hair and is enriched with hydrating Aloe Vera and sweet Almond Oil to leave hair with the perfect balance of softness and shine. The conditioner is formulated with Coconut and Sweet Almond Oils which gently detangle leaving hair soft and silky.
One of my favourite things about this range is that it’s totally and completely free from Sulphates, Dimethicone, Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Synthetic Dyes, Phosphates, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ethel Sulfate (SLES). As with the Hand and Body Wash I shared a few weeks back, this packaging is 100% recyclable and the products are never tested on animals which makes me happy.
And for convenience, you can find this range in supermarkets now at just $7.49 for eco-friendly and all natural. With a price that good you can add it to your trolley on your next grocery shop without breaking the bank.
