When I go on holiday for the weekend the last thing I want to have to do when I arrive at my destination of relaxation is hit the local grocery store. If we’re taking the car to Waiheke for the weekend I’m able to load it up with pre-purchased groceries and the hassle is minimal, but when we travel on the passenger ferry like we did on Labour Weekend I don’t have enough hands to carry all our luggage as well as food.
So imagine how delighted I was to learn about Countdown’s new Click & Collect Transport Hub service! I’ve long been a fan of online shopping – too many amazing reasons to list here (I think you’ll be familiar with the usual culprits of annoyance when it comes to regular grocery shopping), but suffice to say, online is definitely my food shopping method of choice. More often than not I’ll order and have them delivered to my front door step because – easy! But there are occasions where I’ve ordered and collected from a nearby Countdown store of my choice which is easier still than actually pushing the shopping trolley around the aisles myself.
Countdown have upped their game recently and added another ingenious arrow to their bow. Now you can order online like always, but instead of having to get to a Countdown supermarket to collect, they will deliver your groceries to specific transport hubs around the Auckland city to make it easier than ever for you to collect your dinner items on the way home.
For me this meant I could place my order by 1pm online, select the delivery spot as Matiatia Wharf, Waiheke Island, catch our 6pm ferry, board the boat relatively unencumbered and collect dinner and snacks for our weekend of relaxation on the other side. It made everything so easy. I fed the kids dinner before we left Auckland, had fruit on hand for an after dinner snack and more importantly – essential wine supplies for us adults to drink once the kids were in bed. It had been a stressful Friday after all.
Here’s the skinny friends: Chilled lockers have been set up at –
Do your grocery shopping online at Countdown.co.nz and select Click & Collect Transport as your collection location. Place your order before 1pm on Monday to Friday and for just $5 your groceries will be ready for pickup from your chosen transport centre between 4pm-7pm (Waiheke Ferry Terminal is 4.30pm-7.30pm) that same day.
A Countdown staff member will be at the Click & Collect lockers or delivery truck to assist with your order collection. Click & Collect Transport Centres is another way Countdown Online Shopping is making life easier for Kiwi shoppers. For more information please visit the Countdown FAQ’s page.
